TDJ019 - Cardboy Cartridges C M Y K

From time to time things seem to work out. The fact that these toys were released as a set and gave me "instant repaints" of the same thing definitely seemed like it worked out in my favor. There was a bitter sweet aspect that went along with getting these guys too, one of the very few vinyl toy shops here in Chicago had it's going out of business sale last week where I picked this up. So though I got it for 50% off, or 60%, I can't remember, there's one less place for me to waste money in town now.

These guys are a super perfect fit in the office over at the massive Canon printer that we have. We're going to keep them up there and knock one of them down when their corresponding color toner is running low or needs to be replaced. I wonder if these guys have ever been taken out of their home, shaken viciously then gently placed back where they were taken from.

These guys are part of an ever growing trend in designer collectibles that merges two very cool aspects of the culture into one (four) great toys. You get the vinyl AND papercraft combined to make CMYK. Super-toner kids extraordinaire!

So the story goes; that when the Sun (Y) saw that Earth (M) was being cooled too much by the Moon (C), she came from her home to visit with M to keep it warm. C had no idea that he had been doing such a bad thing to M by being so close without Y anywhere around. But when it became obvious, C left without a word and went off into the Great Nothing (K) to die by himself.

K saw that C was so sad all alone and revealed himself in order to show him that he was doing more damage now away from M than he had ever done by being there. K told C that since he had left M that Y was thrown off balance and was drifting ever closer to M and causing catastrophic fires that ravaged most of M. Without the pull of C, M was sure to die, as was Y when it would eventually cause M to become a smaller fire based mass that would counter it's own energy and cause them to explode by being too close.

So C rushed back with K on by his side and he arrived to M just in time to create the necessary pull to keep Y at the perfect distance, eventually causing all life. All life is created out of CMYK. It's not just legend, it's mutha effin FACT.

Liz: There should probably be some sort of warning on these toys that they are not actually toner cartridges. Someone could end up looking really stupid in front of all of their co-workers. Someone could start getting really frustrated with the yellow one in particular when it won't fit into the xerox and end up threatening the IT guy with the closest sharp office supply which was ironically a sharpie and end up having that weapon turned upon herself, spending the rest of her workday covered in fake mustaches and penises.

It could have happened to anyone.

Chicago Toy Show - April 09

Here's a few pictures from our booth at the Chicago Toy Show and a couple from booths I was looking at. I only bought two things this time around, a new record for me. Those will both be on here soon. A lot of the stuff pictured here is still for sale and probably going up on ebay soon. Leave a comment if you're interested in an item.
