The Gorillaz really grabbed a piece of the market that had gone unattended for quite some time with marketing and products that broke down many barriers in the music industry. This line of vinyl figures is just one of many Gorillaz sets. This is from the CMKY set. I got Noodle here from Sean for some gift-giving occasion only about 5 months passed the actual date. She's sat up on the bookcase that is right by the window in my office so the back has suffered quite a bit of sun damage. Which is okay, because aside from the neat images of Noodle that are all over the package, I'm not too in to the design of the box itself.
These Gorillaz figures have some of the best sculpting I've ever seen, though they did get to start with some really amazing designs as it is. I do have a different Noodle figure that Liz got me which is at home, so these two have never met. I fear the "axe" battle that will transpire once they do. I finally opened this for this review. I've got a lot of sealed toys just waiting for me to get time to do a review. I'm glad I finally got around to finally doing this one.
The figure is a little over 6 inches tall and comes with a guitar that features a strap for hanging it over her shoulders. I've had some trouble keeping Noodle standing and keeping the guitar up around her tiny shoulders. But it might have something to do with how long the box was sitting with sun hitting it. The plastic may have re-set just a bit. Though when Fritz saw that I opened this one, he mentioned that he's had a really hard time making his stand as well. Sean said that the one he has stands no problem, but Sean likes to disagree a lot. Should have him on here to do a point, counter-point review some time.
I like the colors that they used, from the olive green hat to the dark blue socks, Noodle is one fashionable lady. On the bottom of her feet there's the Gorillaz logo and the Kid Robot logo. I tried to get a picture, but I don't have a macro lens so like most close up shots, it's a bit blurry.
The only articulation is in the neck, no matter where you position her "view" she still looks like she's the hippest thing in the room. I should have known that as soon as she was open and allowed to mingle with the other toys, she'd make fast friends with the Soundwave figure I had sitting near by. They've started a new side project - I'm pretty sure they're just waiting for Animal to email them back to see if he's interested in joining up. I'll let you know when they get their myspace page up and running.
So I do recommend this figure, this set, any Gorillaz vinyl toy, you really can't go wrong. This figure may have it's down falls, but it's still cooler than me. Get the cool shoe-shine!
